From 17 to 28 August 2026, the seventeenth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP17) took place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Under the theme Restoring Land. Restoring Hope., the conference brought global attention to land restoration, drought resilience, water, rangelands, food systems and the future of nature.
At this meeting, We brought our laundry sheets and herbal shampoo paste to UNCCD COP17 as conference gifts. One is used for washing clothes; the other is used for washing hair. Both are small, familiar objects, yet they connect an international conversation about land and nature with choices made in everyday life.
Land and nature begin with daily choices
The materials used in household products come from supply chains connected to land, water, agriculture, minerals and energy. After use, cleaning products also leave the home through wastewater. This does not mean that a single wash can restore degraded land. It does mean that formulation, dose, product format, packaging and transport deserve careful attention when a product is used repeatedly by many households.
We began with a practical question: can a cleaning product do its job without unnecessary material, excessive dosing or vague environmental promises?
What Twiggy brought to COP17
Twiggy Laundry Sheets
Our laundry sheets are a solid-format laundry product supplied in a 32-sheet pack. Their light, compact format makes the dose easier to see and avoids transporting the large volume of water found in many liquid products. They are designed for everyday machine washing and are convenient to store or carry while travelling.
A solid format is not automatically sustainable in every respect. Its full environmental footprint still depends on ingredients, manufacturing, packaging, transport, dosage and wastewater conditions. The practical value of the sheet format is that it can make measured use easier and reduce unnecessary product volume.
Twiggy Herbal shampoo paste
Our herbal shampoo paste is available in Rose and Chamomile variants, each in a 220 g jar. With this paste format, we bring botanical inspiration, fragrance design and daily cleansing together. We want to reinterpret familiar herbal traditions for contemporary personal care.
The shampoo paste is a cleansing product, not a medicine, and it is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent scalp or hair conditions. We focus on the product’s role in daily cleansing: how it is formulated, how much is used and how fragrance and texture shape the routine.
Why these two products
Sustainability becomes meaningful when it is translated into ordinary decisions. Laundry and hair washing are repeated routines, which makes them useful places to examine product design.
Across our range, we explore plant-derived materials, biological enzymes, mineral ingredients and concentrated or solid formats where they suit the intended task. We do not assume that plant-derived ingredients are automatically safer or that synthetic ingredients are inherently harmful. We need to consider the complete formula, concentration, dose, manufacturing route and conditions of use.
For us, thoughtful product design starts with specific questions: Is the dose clear? Is the format efficient to store and transport? Have we chosen ingredients for the intended task? Can we explain our choices without relying on phrases such as “all natural” or “chemical-free”?
A conference gift as an everyday proposal
COP17 addressed land and nature at a global scale. We arrived with two products used at home.
We have long believed that environmental responsibility should not stay only in reports and conference halls. We can also practise it beside the washing machine and in the bathroom, through measured use, less waste and a clearer understanding of what a product is designed to do.
For us, being included in the COP17 conference gifts is not an endpoint. It is a reason to keep improving our product information, formulation choices and packaging, and to keep considering the connection between daily cleaning and the natural world.
