We check the surface and its finish before using cleaning paste. A product that removes a stain may still be unsuitable for a delicate coating or porous material. Use the surface manufacturer’s recommended method when compatibility is unclear.
Natural stone
Marble, travertine, granite and engineered stone differ in composition, porosity and sealing. Acidity, alkalinity or abrasion can affect the finish. “For kitchen use” does not mean suitable for every stone worktop; confirm compatibility first.
Plating, paint and non-stick coatings
Tap plating, painted appliances, non-stick cookware and decorative metals can be sensitive to abrasion. Do not repeatedly scrub them with rough tools. Check the instructions before testing an inconspicuous area.
Screens, lenses and precision equipment
Phones, computer screens, camera lenses, sensors and electrical connectors need manufacturer-approved cleaning. Ordinary household cleaning paste may be unsuitable for optical coatings, oil-repellent layers and small openings.
Unsealed wood, leather and textiles
Porous materials can absorb water or paste and change colour or texture. Do not apply a hard-surface cleaning method directly to leather, suede, fabric wall coverings or valuable textiles.
Items used by children or pets
For items that may be mouthed, licked or kept against skin, check both sets of instructions. Remove residue as directed and store the cleaner out of reach.
When unsure
- Identify the material and read its care instructions.
- Test a small hidden area only when the method is permitted.
- Start with the gentlest compatible method.
