We start with the surface, not the word “multipurpose”. Before using cleaning paste, check that both the product label and the surface manufacturer’s instructions allow the treatment.
Test a small, hidden area
Remove loose dirt that could scratch. Use a small amount with a suitable soft cloth or sponge, following the directions. Clean off the residue, let the area dry and inspect its colour, gloss and texture. Stop if the finish changes.
Clean gently and remove residue
On compatible washable surfaces, work gently and use only the amount needed. Let hot surfaces cool before cleaning. Rinse or wipe away residue as directed; take particular care with areas that contact food. A rough scrubber can damage a finish even when the cleaning product is suitable.
Check special finishes and do not mix cleaners
Natural stone, wood, coatings, plated metal and some plastics may need a different method. A successful small test does not override a manufacturer’s warning. Do not mix cleaning paste with other cleaners yourself, including chlorine bleach or acidic products.
